Whoa, whoa, hold up! What does beer have to do with Alive to Strive?! Seems an unusual connection until you consider that Ottawa has a pretty special community of micro-brewers. This year, several of Ottawa’s finest micro-breweries are contributing in a special way to our Alive to Strive grant program. Here is a little bit about their efforts and how you can take advantage of some excellent local suds.
Tiger Milk Now On Tap
Have you ever heard of Tiger Milk White Stout? Tiger Milk White Stout is a prohibition-era inspired beer that has been brewed especially by Ottawa’s Waller St Brewing and Craft Beer Market. This golden yellow stout combines cocoa nibs and roasted coconut. Sounds delicious…you had me at ‘coconut’!
Here’s where Alive to Strive comes in!
Craft Beer Market has an amazing Community Brew Program. With the sale of every pint of Tiger Milk White Stout sold at Craft Beer Market, $1 goes directly to Alive to Strive Kidney Fitness Project. Head there today to imbibe in a taste of the early 20th century, you have until the end of May to try this incredible new brew.
Flight for Hope
Waller St Brewing will also be raising funds for Alive to Strive through their Flight for Hope Program. The Flight for Hope Program is their way of supporting some of our community’s smaller charities, non-profits, and other fund-raising efforts. For $10, you get five samples of 4 ounces each and $2 from every flight goes stra
ight to a chosen cause. The brewery tries to focus on small local organizations that have an impact on the residents of our community and that is why Alive to Strive is the cause for the month of April and why Waller St. Brewing is participating in the 5K Team Challenge…how awesome is that?! We’re pretty pleased.
Beau’s Brewery is participating in the Alive to Strive 5K team challenge on April 30th, and the team is doing its own fundraising by having Smoothie Fridays! The staff who are racing in the team challenge are making smoothies for their colleagues. Funds raised by their smoothie sales go directly to Alive to Strive. How inspiring is their fundraising initiative!
We are thrilled to have CRAFT Beer Market, Waller St. Brewing and Beau’s Brewery contributing so generously to our cause! We hope to see other breweries join in, perhaps by participating in the 5K team challenge or by initiating their own innovative fundraising effort!
We hope you will visit these breweries to sample their suds! By buying a Tiger Milk White Stout at CRAFT Beer Market, a beer flight at Waller St Brewing and by participating in our race, you are making a direct and immediate contribution to our grant program and to the lives of those living with chronic kidney disease.
Afterall, #Youneedkidneystodrinkbeer, am I right?
